We believe that maintaining high standards of conduct and discipline is paramount to achieving academic excellence, personal growth, and the holistic development of our students into responsible and ethical professionals.
The Discipline Committee is a vital body constituted to uphold the principles of fairness, integrity, and accountability within the institute. This committee is entrusted with the responsibility of addressing instances of indiscipline, ensuring due process, and promoting a culture of self-regulation and responsible behaviour among students. By proactively addressing behavioural concerns and implementing corrective measures, the Discipline Committee contributes significantly to the overall well-being, safety, and harmonious functioning of SPIPS. This document outlines the objectives and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Discipline Committee, providing a framework for its operations and ensuring transparency and consistency in its actions.
This SOP outlines the process that the Discipline Committee will follow in addressing instances of indiscipline:
Any member of the institute community (faculty, staff, student) can report an incident of indiscipline.Reports should be submitted in writing to the designated authority (e.g., Head of Department, Dean of Student Affairs, or a designated member of the Discipline Committee). The written report should include details of the incident, including the date, time, location, names of individuals involved, and a brief description of the alleged misconduct, along with any supporting evidence (if available).
Upon receiving a report, the designated authority will conduct a preliminary assessment to determine the seriousness of the alleged offense and whether it falls within the purview of the Discipline Committee.Minor infractions may be addressed at the class level or departmental level or by the respective faculty member with appropriate intimation to higher authorities.Serious incidents or repeated offenses will be referred to the Discipline Committee for further investigation.
The student(s) against whom the complaint has been lodged will be formally notified of the allegations in writing. The student(s) will be given an opportunity to present their version of events and provide any relevant information or evidence.
Upon completion of the investigation, the Inquiry Committee (if constituted) will submit its findings and recommendations to the Discipline Committee. The Discipline Committee will review the investigation report, evidence, and statements from all studentsinvolved.Based on the findings, the Discipline Committee will determine whether a violation of the institute's code of conduct has occurred.
The decision of the Discipline Committee will be communicated in writing to the student(s) concerned, outlining the reasons for the action and any conditions that may apply, findings, and disciplinary actions taken. These records will be kept in accordance with the institute's policies and relevant legal guidelines.
These guidelines will be reviewed periodically by the Discipline Committee and may be amended as deemed necessary to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. Any amendments will be communicated to the institute community.
This framework aims to ensure a fair, transparent, and consistent approach to maintaining discipline at St. Paul Institute of Professional Studies, Indore, thereby contributing to a positive and productive learning environment for all.
