Scholarship as Financial Aid

Scholarships serve as a crucial form of financial aid for the students, especially those belonging to economically weaker sections of the society. At St. Paul Institute of Professional Studies, Indore (SPIPS), the Scholarship Cell plays a pivotal role in enabling learners from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) to access government-funded support through the MPTAAS portal of Madhya Pradesh. By helping students overcome financial challenges, this initiative ensures that deserving learners can pursue their education without interruption. The cell offers guidance on the application process, documentation and also motivates students to utilize available government benefits effectively. Through its efforts, SPIPS contributes to promoting educational equity, social upliftment, and inclusive development.

What is MPTAAS?

  • MPTAAS stands for Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs & Scheduled Caste Welfare Automation System.
  • It is an online scholarship/benefit-disbursement portal run by the state government of Madhya Pradesh (via Tribal Welfare / SC Welfare departments).
  • The portal is designed to make application, approval and fund disbursement — including scholarships, fee reimbursements, and other support — transparent, paperless, and directly deposited to students' bank accounts (via DBT).

Who is eligible / who can apply

Students who satisfy the following criteria are eligible for MPTAAS-supported scholarships and benefits:

  • Must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Must belong to a reserved category — generally Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and in some cases Other Backward Classes (OBC) status is considered.
  • Must be enrolled in a recognized school/college/university/institution — from Class 11 onwards up to higher education / Ph.D. courses.
  • Family income criteria: typically for SC/ST/OBC students, there’s an upper limit on annual family income (for example, some sources mention ₹ 6 lakh for SC/ST; income thresholds may vary depending on scheme and year)
  • Aadhaar and Samagra ID linkage is usually required for eKYC / verification.
  • What benefits / schemes are available under MP TAAS

Through MPTAAS, eligible students may get support under various schemes, such as:

  • Post-matric scholarship (tuition fee reimbursement, educational expenses).
  • Group Discussions and Debates: Enhancement of analytical ability, general knowledge, and presentation skills.
  • Hostel support or living/boarding support (for students staying in hostels or residential institutions) in some cases.
  • Fee reimbursement / tuition fee waiver / financial assistance toward study expenses.
  • Additional support depending on scheme — sometimes help with books, materials, or other academic-related expenses.

Note: The exact nature and amount of benefits vary depending on course, institution type, category (SC/ST/OBC), and other eligibility criteria

  • How to Apply (Process on MP TAAS Portal)

Here’s a typical step-by-step process to apply for scholarship via MPTAAS:

  • Go to the official portal: https://tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS.
  • If you’re a first-time applicant: click on “New Beneficiary Registration” (नयाहितग्राहीप्रोफाइलपंजीकरण). Provide your Samagra ID (10-digit) — portal can auto-fetch personal details.
  • Perform Aadhaar e-KYC verification via OTP (linked Aadhaar + mobile).
  • Verify the auto-fetched details. If any detail is wrong, it must first be corrected on the Samagra portal.
  • Fill in your educational details (course, institution, year/semester), and bank account details (account number, IFSC) for DBT.
  • Upload required documents: previous year’s marksheet, current year fee receipt, bonafide certificate, caste certificate, income certificate (if required), and bank passbook/bank details.
  • Submit the application. The portal will forward your application for departmental verification (Welfare/Tribal/SC Dept) for eligibility check (income, caste, academic, domicile criteria etc.).
  • If approved, scholarship/funds are disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to your bank account.
  • You can log back in any time to check “Application Status / Payment Status / Track Application” on portal.

For renewal (for continuing students): after logging in to your account, there’s an option “Scholarship Renewal” — you need to enter current course/semester details and upload updated documents (e.g. marksheet/fee receipt/hostel certificate).

  • Important Conditions / Notes & What to Check
  • Only SC/ST (and eligible OBC, depending on scheme) students are eligible.
  • Must be a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Aadhaar + Samagra ID + income certificate + valid caste certificate + admitted in a recognized institution are usually required.
  • Family income thresholds apply (varies by scheme and category) — ensure your family income is within allowed limit.
  • Bank account must be Aadhaar-linked (for DBT).
