Initiatives

INITIATIVE 1:

  • Started professional course. MBA at post graduate level.
  • Practical Exams duly conducted complying the New Education Policy.

 INITIATIVE 2:

  • The number of research guides under the Affiliating University, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidhyala has increased in the Department of Commerce and Science.

 INITIATIVE 3:

  • As a step towards E-Governance, Digitalization and Paperless Office, the collection of College Fees Fully through the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) of Institution i.e. e-care has initiated from the next academic year.

 INITIATIVE 4:

  • Cross Verification of Syllabus Completion as per Lecture Plan.  The HODs to cross check the completion of the syllabus and sign the same.

INITIATIVE 5:

Guidelines have been issued pertaining to taking of Geo-tagged photographs for NAAC purpose.

  • Geotagged photographs have to be taken only for all the committee and department programmes.
  • The programme in-charge or head of the department will send ONE geotagged photograph on SPIPS official group along with the Collage.
  • The office staff/designated faculty would download the geotagged photograph rename it with the name of the programme and keep it in month- wise folder created for this purpose.

 INITIATIVE 6:

  • Different Programme under New Education Policy 2020 commenced. As a part of it two programmes were conducted.

INITIATIVE 7:

  • Checking of Class Registers, Department Registers and Committee Registers on regular basis.

CONTINUATION OF PREVIOUS INITIATIVES:

  • Cross Verification of Answer Sheet of Internal Examinations for Quality Improvisation was done.
  • Assignments to be prepared in the form of PowerPoint Presentation.
  • Enhancement of quality of Assignment Viva.

INITIATIVE 1:

  • Faculty members spent quality time with the students during online lecture
  • Entry in the Library allowed to the students with Covid protocols.
  • Practical Exams duly conducted complying the University and Covid protocols.

INITIATIVE 2:

Faculty members equipped themselves with techniques and measures that helped not only in making the class interesting but also in the formation of the students.

INITIATIVE 3:

Online Lectures made more interactive and engrossing through innovative lectures techniques that are as follows:-

  • Mode 1: Video Presentation
  • Mode 2: Example Sharing
  • Mode 3: Case study
  • Mode 4: Review

INITIATIVE 4:

  • Formation of a Whatsapp Group whereby the teachers sent the details of the innovative lectures.
  • Submission of fortnight report by all the Head of the Department stating compliance of the initiative.

INITIATIVE 5:

Enhancement of quality of Assignment Viva was done.

  • The student made PPT presentation for each subject.
  • The online Viva was taken as per the scheduled date in the presence of external and internal examiner.
  • After the completion of viva, the grade sheet was collected from the Assignment Committee by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell.
  • The Principal randomly selected three students from each class who were asked to give the Viva in front of a panel comprising of the Director, Principal, IQAC members and subject expert.
  • The viva was taken through video conferencing and also personally with full facility.
  • The panel verified the viva grade given by the external and internal examiner.

 

INITIATIVE 6:

  • Cross Verification of Answer Sheet of Internal Examinations for Quality Improvisation was done.
  • The faculty members submitted the answer sheets to the IQAC team.
  • The quality of evaluation thereof was taken care by the Principal and Director.

  • Invited Talk on How to protect against third wave of Covid-19 by Dr. Eliza Anthony, Ophthalmologist, Aarvind Hospital, Chennai

Faculty Assessment by the Head of the Departments, Principal and Director initiated for quality improvement and ensuring enhanced performance.

  • Mock visit
  • Sajimol Augustine M, Former Principal, St. Theresa College, Kerala was the expert.
  • Two days visit was scheduled.
  • All the criterion, departmental and committee files were checked.
  • Presentation was given by the Principal, IQAC Coordinator, Head of the Departments and Committee Conveners.

INITIATIVE 1:

Implement the Plan of Decennial Celebration into action. Following activities conducted as the IQAC initiative:-

  • Welcome cum Orientation Programme (Aagaz-2019) meaning new beginning.
  • Department-wise National Seminars and Conferences
  • SPIPS Fiesta by Department of Commerce and Management Fest by Department of Management.
  • Donation of 75 sewing machines on Patron’s Day
  • Monthly Department wise Meeting with the Director and the Principal.
  • Department wise and Committee wise activity on monthly basis.
  • Inaugural ceremony of all the Departments and Club
  • Class Wise Monthly Personality Development and Class Social Activity to become indispensable.

INITIATIVE 2:

Major changes introduced in the conduct of Internal Exam.

  • Conduct of monthly quiz on the basis of each unit/chapter completed in the class.
  • Two exams each of one and a half hour will be conducted in a day. The total time duration will be 3 hours
  • The question paper for the next exam will be given only after completion of one and a half hour
  • Question paper would be set in three Sets A, B, C
  • No multiple choice questions will be asked
  • The question paper will include very short answers, short answer and long answer type questions
  • To allow in extreme cases sending of answers on official mail id of the subject teacher.

INITIATIVE 3:

  • Conduct of all the Internal Examinations namely, Common Class Tests and Pre-University as per the planned dates and as per new guidelines.
  • Ensured completion of Syllabus as per the Lecture Plan.

INITIATIVE 4:

  • Paul Institute of Professional Studies bought the e-care services and trained the faculty members and students.
  • Login ID and Password distributed to all the users
  • Series of Training sessions conducted

  • Former Judge of Supreme Court of India, Justice Kurien, invited for Tenth Annual Day Celebration enlightened all the stakeholders.

External Academic and Administrative Audit conducted by Mentor College Authorities.

As the urge of IQAC, Faculty Enriching Faculty Programme became the regular feature of the college.

Initialization of the Post Graduate Course M.Com.

One meeting of Parents Professors Association was conducted in the form of open house. The number of parents attending the meeting was very promising.

In order to augment the presentation quality of the students and make them industry ready, the assignments were given in the form of Power Point Presentation.

INITIATIVE 7:

The Biometric machines were installed in all the first year classes on experimental basis.

INITIATIVE 8:

The senior faculty members with more knowledge about the college, were made the class teachers and mentors.

INITIATIVE 9:

The Counselling and Tutorial Committee prepared a special format for the same. All the class teachers submitted the counseling report of their students on monthly basis.

INITIATIVE 12:

Model Class Committee formed in order to evaluate the performance of class teachers in terms of participation of the students of their class in academic, curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Chart issued to the faculty members along with the guidelines.

  1. Students’ Database system initiated in the college. All the information of the faculty members, student and staff members arranged in a systematic manner.
  2. Financial facility to the faculty members in order to promote research and research initiated for the growth of the faculty members and college.
  3. Restructuring the Internal Marks criteria (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) for improving the quality of the students.
  4. Number of seats in B.Com. Hons augmented.
  5. Research and Journal Committee strived for the MOUs thereby resulting in increase in number of MOUs.

Collected feedback from the students enrolled for the academic year 2015-16. The report based on the above was circulated to the Heads of the Departments for further actions.
